A sultry spy is murdered and a Canadian with a boring life finds himself pursued by a mysterious organization called “The 39 Steps”. Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add in nonstop laughs, and you have a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! This two-time Tony Award-winning treat is packed with over 150 zany characters, an onstage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers, and some good old-fashioned romance!

Did you know that “The 39 Steps” features an on stage plane chase? Book your visit to the Royal Aviation Museum today to learn about the vibrant history of aviation in Western Canada. One of the planes in their impressive collection is the only remaining plane of its type in the entire world – wow! Your visit to this museum will be one you won’t forget! 

Whodunit? Mystery Bookstore will have a booth in the theatre lobby featuring a great selection of books, including “The 39 Steps” by John Buchan. Did you know, both the book and the play have a shout out to Winnipeg! The author of the novel was the Governor General of Canada from 1935 to 1940! A great story with a Canadian connection. 

High Tea Bakery will have a booth in the theatre lobby with their tasty treats! Fresh baked daily using the best quality ingredients, High Tea Bakery’s famous imperial cookies have even been served to Her Majesty The Queen of England. Enjoy their creations before the show or at intermission.

Winnipeg Public Libraries offer many incredible free programs and events to the Winnipeg Community. Check out their Book Clubs, including a “Page to Stage” event with the Artistic Director about the book this play is based on, “The 39 Steps” by John Buchan.
